Secretary's Report for the Committee Meeting held on 30th October 2025 by Violet Rook

  1. Completed minutes of AGM 2025 sent to members of board.
  2. Completed minutes of NAWG committee meeting of 6th September, 2025. Sent to members of board.
  3. Sent agenda for committee meeting 30th October, 2025.
  4. Sent welcome letters to Riverside Writers and the Alnwick Playhouse writers. Welcome letter sent to new member in Canada in September. Also Link magazine. Sent a Flipbook of same to Alnwick Playhouse writers.
  5. Updated the database on Dropbox in September and October.
  6. Sent September newsletter to members.
  7. Provided information in regard to queries from members.
  8. Dealt with advertisement queries.
  9. Had discussions on Zoom with Liz Ashcroft in regard to topics concerning members.
  10. In September prior to AGM sent membership reminders to members.
  11. Forwarded membership report to committee October.
  12. Planning and setting up newsletter edition for November.
  13. Work on membership lists and database. Membership list indicates 1,560 members but this is just the formal number. The members who need to be removed from the database in regard to none renewal of membership need to be taken into account. This is an ongoing process to ensure fair play and participation. Some entries on the database have not been updated since before or during the Pandemic. This maybe because of circumstances produced by the said national situation.
  14. Penny Ellis indicated in September there were 41 groups and 23 individuals. Since then there have been 2 more groups and one more individual.
  15. There seems to be a case for encouraging groups to provide a list of their members emails. This would be encouraged if the NAWG became a data controller via the processes of the Office of Information Commissioner which would cost £40 annually.
