Annual General Meeting 06-Sep-2025 Treasurer's Report

Here is the Treasurer's report for the year 01-Jul-2024 to 30-Jun-2025, presented at the 2025 AGM.

The most important change this year was the decision to change to a common, fixed date for subscriptions to be paid viz. 1st July. This began on 1st July 2024 but to bring all members to the same renewal date subscriptions were paid as a proportion of the year due to 30th June 2025. Most members followed this instruction but some were still unaware of the change some months into the year. On 1st July 2025 subscriptions were due from all members (groups £50, individuals £25, students £15) for the coming year to 30th June 2026.

Subscription income was about the same as the previous year allowing for some prepayment for 25/26. The other major source of income was advertising arranged for the association by Wendy Kearns.

£10,000 was moved from the current account into a savings account. It is gaining a little bit of interest.

Payments to the PayPal account are convenient for the payee but a considerable fee is deducted, particularly on small payments such as competition entry fees.

There was only one face to face meeting during the year, the Wentworth weekend. This produced the biggest turnover for any activity run by the association and made a small surplus.

The open competition 2024 made a considerable deficit and the other activities, the on-line NAWGFest 24 and the 250 competitions also made small deficits.

Nevertheless, with a surplus for the year of over thousand pounds the association is well-placed to support events in the next year. However the risks associated with a full-scale face-to-face NAWGFest are probably prohibitive unless the membership demand and support such an event.

As turnover is less than £10,000 there is no requirement for an independent audit and the financial return has been lodged with the Charity Commission.

I am retiring as Treasurer at this AGM and wish my successor well. I will, of course, be available to cooperate over the handover of accounts.

— Penny Ellis, Monmouth, 15-Aug-2025.
