Committee Meeting 10-Jan-2026 Membership Report

Report on Membership for the Committee Meeting on 10th January 2026 by Violet Rook

Actions from 6th December to date.

  1. Set up a WhatsApp group for committee members.
  2. Answered some queries in regard to the password for the website.
  3. Discussions with Vanessa Lester, Henry Curry, Kevin Machin, Liz Ashcroft and other committee members about the special membership offer via WhatsApp and email. This resulted in my sending emails about the offer to members who had not renewed this past year and to other members to stimulate interest. Also prepared a gift special membership letter.
  4. Vanessa Lester prepared the advert regarding the new project. She put the details on Facebook and LinkedIn. Kevin Machin put these details on the website. Susan Cartwright Smith put them on Twitter/X. Details included the prices for membership: individual £15, group £30, student £10. Plus, there would be a special monthly meeting on Zoom especially for individual members.
  5. Committee members were kept up to date via WhatsApp and email. All items in the special membership offer being discussed at length.
  6. I sent a welcome letter containing NAWG membership number and password for website member's page. Also sent a copy of the most recent Link magazine plus a copy of the most recent newsletter to the five new members upon receiving their application form and proof of payment. The proof of payment was either via BACs or a scan of a PayPal payment.
  7. The five new members are all individual members: Sofia Morma, Chris Jones, Janette Fisher, Gwyneth Box, Lan Li.
  8. All details were entered onto the database which was updated on 29th December 2025.

We have some exciting plans for 2026.

As well as a program of workshops and events we will be starting a monthly online writers meeting for individual writer members where they can share news and writing with each other.
