- Both categories: £ 5 (each entry).
- Poetry only: three poems for £ 10.
- Optional Critique, for both categories: £ 5 each (don't forget s.a.e.)

- Attach the story or poem as a Word file.

Competition Rules ↑
- Entries must be in English and typed or printed on one side of white A4 paper, or formatted for a Word file, accordingly.
- Stories can be from 500 to 2,000 words maximum.
- Poems can be any style, maximum 40 lines.
- Handwritten entries are not permitted.
- Stories and poems must be for adults.
- Pages should be numbered.
- Stories or poems must not have been previously published nor should they have won a prize in another competition.
- Send two copies of each postal entry, please.
- Please, do not put your name or any other identifying marks on your manuscript, or within the e-mail attachment.
- If any competition rule fails to be followed, your entry may be disqualified.
- The winning entries will be published here on the NAWG website.
- Copyright remains with the author.
- Entrants may win more than one prize.
- As entries will not be returned, please retain a copy.
- When requesting a critique for a postal entry, please enclose an s.a.e. with the correct postage.
- E-mail entries, who have paid for a critique, will receive their critique by e-mail.

Short Story Judging and Critiques ↑
By Simon Whaley, a best-selling author and an award-winning writer, whose short stories have appeared in various UK and Australian women's magazines including: Take a Break, Fiction Feast, Yours, The Weekly News, The People's Friend, Woman's Weekly and Fast Fiction.
Poetry Judging and Critiques ↑
By Maggie Harris, who was born in Guyana and now lives in Wales.
Her first collection of poetry won the Guyana Prize for Literature 2000 and she was regional winner of the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2014. Short story collections include Canterbury Tales on a Cockrow Morning and In Margate by Lunchtime. Her memoir, Kiskadee Girl, is published by Kingston University Press, and her latest collection of poetry, Sixty Years of Loving was published last year.
She has taught creative writing in universities and community settings and has been International Teaching Fellow at Southampton University.
