The delivery of the new website will need a substantial amount of testing, before it can go live. This article contains plans and strategies for how to go about this testing.

    Factual Testing

The material for the content on the site has been curated from multiple sources, much of it from an earlier website that was retired in 2018. It's impossible for me to know everything about the association as it is now, and therefore what may or may not be out of date and/or incorrect.

For this reason, it's very important that the factual information given on the site is carefully checked for accuracy and relevance.

This can begin immediately, though it doesn't have to; it would simply put back the "go live" date by an estimated three weeks.

However it ends up happening, I suggest we adopt a strategy where people test in their areas of expertise/responsibility. For example…

    Category Tester Links
Membership related material. Violet Membership, groups directory, patrons, staff
    Flash competitions. Susan 250 competition
Members' and open competitions. Liz Members' competitions, open competitions
    Festival. Henry NAWGFest
    Wentworth. Chris Wentworth
    Newsletter. Violet Newsletter
    Link magazine. Henry Link
Material that may have legal implications. Vanessa Policies
    Publications. Gillian Publications
    Writers' resources. John Resources
    Workshops. Ellie Workshops
Things for internal/staff use. Kevin Issues, tasks

The links given above are just suggested starting points, so please follow further links on those pages, as appropriate.

If everyone could also check general things, then that would be great. Overlap is not a problem; two or more testers are better than none.

Anything you think needs changing or fixing, please let me know.

    What to Look For ↑

Here are some suggestions for what to look for when testing.

    Notes

† Please only report serious layout/formatting issues that prevent or deter readability. At this stage, I want to avoid getting into endless debates about style, colours, fonts, etc. Themes and styling can be addressed after MVP, unless deemed to be critical.

‡ Device specific problems are great to know about and will be duly recorded. However, they may need to be addressed further down the line, after MVP.

More to be added to this plan at a later date.
