In addition to the main workshops and talks, there'll be other activities and extras for you at NAWGFest 2017.

Open Mic (your five minutes of fame)

Have you got a story you want to tell, a poem you want to read, a song you want to sing or jokes you want to share? We need your wonderful work for our new Friday night Open Mic event at NAWGFest 2017.

We can promise you a warm and sympathetic audience and supportive NAWG committee members who'll help you get the best out of what it is you're keen to deliver. Performances should last no longer than five minutes, in order to give everyone a chance to take to the stage.

Please bring your prepared piece along with you to NAWGFest 2017 and, when you register for the weekend, let us know you'd also like to be added to the list of performers for the Open Mic event later that evening (Friday, 8.30-ish).

    The Market Place

    Book Stall

Published authors may leave their books to be sold in a dedicated area for book sales in the Humanities concourse. There is no commission on sales for NAWG members. Delegates who are not members may sell books with a 10% charge payable to NAWG on all sales. You will be able to take your books over on Friday afternoon if you wish. The building will be locked at night. If you require more security you may move your books to a locked room overnight, but this will be your responsibility.

Please note: every copy of each book should have a piece of paper inside, stating clearly the name of the book, the author's name and the price. Books without this sheet of paper will not be accepted.

    Readings

On Saturday morning from 11.30 am there will be an opportunity to hear readings from NAWG members who are published authors. Should you wish to read from your book, you can register your interest at the NAWG table.

    Grand Raffle

Tickets for the Grand Raffle will be on sale throughout Friday and until lunchtime on Saturday. The draw will take place after the Annual General Meeting in Humanities R52.

All drawn prizes will be noted for collection later if you miss coming.

    Mini-Tales Competition

Not to be confused with our on-going open mini-tales competition…

Each year at the festival, we hold an extra Mini-Tales competition. You may compose a one-hundred-word story during your stay and enter it to be judged in time for the Awards Ceremony after the Gala Dinner.
